Master the 4 Ds of Goal Setting, Enhance Client Ease, and Secure Your Spot at Our January Workshop!

Welcome to this weekā€™s edition of The Wellness Wealth Weekly,

As 2024 starts drawing to a close, its a good time to start looking ahead to your plan for your business in 2025.

Iā€™m not talking about resolutions, as much as theyā€™re fun to make, whatā€™s the point?

The stats say that only about 9% of people that make a resolution stick to it for the entire year.

23% give up within the first week, and those that make it past the 7th January more than half (64%) donā€™t keep them going into February!

So, what then is the key to making goals that stick? And what makes a goal different from a resolution?

In todayā€™s email:

The 4 Ds to making Goals that Stick

A resolution is a firm promise to yourself of a habit or behaviour you intend to do for the long term.

A goal is the aim of a desired result.

Both require the same 4 key elements to succeed, and they all begin with the letter Dā€¦.

Desire

Everything starts with wanting something deeply. Without desire, thereā€™s no drive to move forward. Youā€™ve got to REALLY want whatever you are aiming to achieve.

Determination

Desire alone isnā€™t enough. You need grit and persistence to overcome challenges.

Itā€™s easy to get distracted if you donā€™t have your eyes firmly on your end goal.

Discipline

Success requires consistency and hard work over time.

There will be days you donā€™t feel like doing that ā€˜thingā€™ that youā€™ve promised yourself to do. But just like putting on your clothes every morning is a discipline that we all take for granted, any goal can be achieved if you keep taking the steps towards it.

Design

Getting any new habit to become routine is a challenge.

Work out what obstacles or excuses youā€™ll come across that will making doing the ā€˜new thingā€™ hard.

Make it as easy as possible to stick to.

If its activity related, and your challenge is excuses getting in the way of you doing it - I havenā€™t got enough time, I donā€™t have the right tools or doing it is difficult.

Work out what those issues are and get rid of them.

For example, I set myself a goal which would require me to spend more time working on my business rather than in it.

To achieve this I made a plan to work for 90 minutes ON my business every day (Monday-Friday).

To begin with I was just trying to fit it into my day at random times. Other tasks that were IN my business - teaching, replying to emails, dealing with client queries etc would fill my time and Iā€™d go to bed having not done ANY work on my business at all.

It wasnā€™t until I set a time slot every morning at the same time (6-7:30am) that it started to happen routinely.

I put it as the first thing I did every day (even before having breakfast or getting dressed). This way nothing would be able to get in the way.

I make sure I have worked out the night before what I will do in my 90 minutes so I donā€™t have to waste time decided what to do.

I keep my notifications off until the end of my 90 minutes and get it done.

4 months later I am still doing it and itā€™s so easy now as Iā€™ve formed a habit and I am steadily heading towards my goal.

Discipline is the bridge between the goal and accomplishment.

Is Your Business Easy for your Clients/Customers?

How easy is it for your clients to use your services?

Consider the challenges that your potential or current clients have around coming to your classes.

Family challenges, work commitments, hating exercise.

You need to think about how you can make coming to your classes as EASY as possible for them.

Can they book/cancel online or do they have to contact you?

Do they have to get cash out every time they want to attend or is it all linked up to their bank account or card?

Are you flexible about when they can attend classes?

Do they have to bring their own equipment with them or do you provide it?

Do your classes often get over subscribed, or cancelled due to low numbers?

Try and consider all the things that would potentially stop your clients from coming to classes and make the process as easy as you can.

That way youā€™re more likely to get them coming back on a regular basis.

Will it work for you? Setting Goals for 2025ā€¦

Without knowing where you want to go you canā€™t possibly plan the route.

A sat-nav canā€™t take you anywhere if you donā€™t tell it your destination. Treat your goals the same way.

My steps for success

  • Decide on a goal of what you want to achieve in your business (or personal life) in 2025.

  • Make sure its something you REALLY want

  • Look at what action steps will need to be taken to achieve it

  • List all the potential obstacles you will have to face

  • Work out how you can reduce them

  • Make a plan

  • Take the first step

  • Be disciplined, it will take a while to form a new habit.

  • Be flexible if necessary, make any tweaks along the way that work better for you.

As always implementation is the key to success. The aim of these emails is to get you taking ACTION.
