From My Week to Yours…

Last week during a development day, we were asked three deceptively simple questions:

  1. Where do you want to be?

  2. What’s your plan to get there?

  3. What’s stopping you?

The first question was easy for me. There’s something huge I’ve been wanting to do, quietly brewing for years, getting louder over the last two. The kind of desire that sits in your chest and refuses to leave.

And, just like when I spent twelve whole years putting off becoming a Pilates instructor, it wasn’t that I didn’t want it. It was simply that I had no clear path, no structured way of turning that spark into something real.

This new project felt the same, a mountain with no map.

Then, during the workshop, we were told:

“Find clarity. What needs to happen to make this real?”

So I sat down. And I mind mapped. And scribbled. And emptied every swirling thought onto paper. Forty-five minutes later, something clicked. I could see the pieces clearly enough to recognise the very first step… and would you believe it?

I hadn’t even reached out to the person who was pivotal to the entire thing. Four years of thinking… no initial contact.

My head had been full of micro-details that didn’t matter yet. The kind that distract you just enough to feel productive, while actually keeping you stuck.

So, right there in the room, I found their email address.

I sent the message.

The next day I had a link to book a call.

And on Tuesday, we spoke, and suddenly the path ahead looked far simpler than I’d convinced myself it was.

Now I’m clear.

Now I’m focused.

Now I’m moving.

And here’s the thing I want you to really hear:

It shouldn’t take a life-changing diagnosis to push you into action.

I waited twelve years before becoming an instructor, and it took my first cancer diagnosis to shove me over the edge. This summer’s diagnosis has been the catalyst for this next big project… but I don’t want that for you.

Please don’t wait for life to force your hand.

That “thing” you keep nudging to the side - big or small - deserves your attention now.

  • Dump it all out. Spend 20 minutes doing a brain-emptying mind map of everything involved.

  • Spot the real first step. Look for the simplest action that would shift the project from idea to motion.

  • Do it immediately. Before your brain has time to overcomplicate it again.

  • Ignore the irrelevant details. They’ll matter later, they don’t matter today.

  • Commit to the next micro-step. Nothing more. Just the next thing.
