Why Doing It All Yourself Is Slowing You Down

How outsourcing can unlock your focus, energy, and real business growth

Running two businesses, chasing growth, and holding a brain full of ideas - it’s a cocktail for constant motion.

But lately, I’ve realised that motion doesn’t always equal progress.

After what felt like the millionth week of scrambling to schedule posts and design flyers last-minute, I had a moment of clarity: I physically can’t do it all.

More importantly - I shouldn’t be doing it all.

So, I started researching virtual assistants, and after some digging, I decided to explore hiring someone from the Philippines.

It’s a cost-effective option, and the talent pool is seriously impressive. But the hardest part? Figuring out what to let go of. That sneaky little voice says, “No one can do it like I can.”

Truth bomb: they absolutely can. In fact, they can probably do it better - especially when I’m spread too thin to do my best work.

My energy needs to go toward vision, strategy, and connection - not Canva.

Outsourcing isn’t just about saving time. It’s about valuing your time enough to protect it.

Delegating to Grow

You didn’t start your business to become its bottleneck. But if you’re still doing everything yourself - content creation, email responses, customer service, bookkeeping - you might be the one holding it back.

Outsourcing feels like a luxury at first, especially when cash flow feels tight. But it’s actually a growth strategy.

Hiring a VA (virtual assistant) doesn’t mean handing over your business. It means finally freeing yourself to focus on the things that only you can do: big-picture thinking, client relationships, and the magic only you bring to your brand.

Here’s a mindset shift: instead of asking “Can I afford this?” ask “What will it cost me if I don’t?”

Tasks like:

  • Posting on social media

  • Editing blogs or videos

  • Responding to general emails

  • Organising events or files

  • Doing research

…can all be outsourced. And when they are, you get to move faster, with less stress, and more clarity.

I’m still early in my own outsourcing journey, but already I feel the spaciousness that comes from not carrying every little detail alone. It’s a game-changer - and I want that for you, too.

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

Will it work for you?

Yes, especially if you’re ready to reclaim your time and step into the CEO role in your business (and life).

Here’s how to begin your outsourcing journey:

  • Start with a time audit. For one week, track everything you do. Highlight the tasks someone else could do.

  • Create a ‘Delegate List’. Choose 3–5 repetitive or time-consuming tasks to outsource first.

  • Choose your VA type. Do you need tech support, admin help, social media management? Get clear before hiring.

  • Start small. Even 5 hours a week can make a huge difference.

  • Document your processes. This makes delegation easier and sets your VA up for success.

  • Let go of perfection. Progress beats perfection every time.

Key to this week’s implementation:

Freeing your time is one of the most powerful forms of self-care, and business growth, you can invest in.

Delegation isn’t giving up control; it’s choosing to lead with clarity, confidence, and support.
