What Money Making Tasks Are You Avoiding?
Which tasks have you been putting off that will make a financial difference in your business?
This week I was having a lovely week until I had a bomb dropped on me. There was something on my to-do list that I had been putting off, and I got a kick up the bum from my coach when she asked me why I hadn’t done it yet.
I had no excuse, it was on my list, but it didn’t have a specific deadline so I had repeatedly pushed it down as a low priority.
The truth is it’s not a low priority, if I implement what needs to be done with this particular project it will generate extra cash in my business. So why am I not giving this the time it deserves?
In today’s email:
Putting off valuable tasks: Are you guilty?

Making change happen: The steps you can take to prioritise your tasks correctly.
How many things on your To-Do list will make you money?
Last week I talked about the importance of making a list of all the things you need to do.
But in making that list, have you worked out which tasks are going to bring more money into your business? Because these are the tasks that should go at the top of your list every time.
How many things are on your ‘when I get round to it’ list? You know those ideas you get that you think could be great, but you’re too busy to do anything about it right now.
Thats all very well if they’re just things that will make things a bit better in the long run, but if those ideas are going to generate an additional source of income, they should be given time right now.
Sometimes we avoid doing things due to fear of failure, but you won’t know until you try. And if you try and fail, at least you’re moving forward with your business. You definitely won’t see success with something if you don’t try at all.
“Try and fail, but don’t fail to try”
Are you willing to set aside just 6 hours to transform your business?
The task I had been putting off was creating a 6 week course for new & growing business owners. I have recently put out an 8 week course for more established studio owners, which was high ticket and not within everyone’s budget.
This course is much more snappy, 6 hours in 6 weeks with actionable nuggets each week that can be implemented for fast results.
I’d been putting it off as I knew it would take some time to put together, but the fact is I know a lot of stuff about how to run a really successful business, and I need to share it with other business owners (this was why I put together The Wellness Business Lab in the first place).
I have all the knowledge ready and I just need to assemble the course.
Whether you’re just starting out in business or been running for 17 years, there’s always something to learn, and there’s definitely something you should be implementing.
So what’s the thing you should be implementing this week, next week or next month but certainly before Christmas.
Otherwise January will be here, a new year will have started and you’ll still be sat there thinking about it. Its all about implementation, your business only improves when you do things.
It’s sometimes the little things that can make the biggest impact.
In my 6 week snappy course, I will be sharing lots of things that are easy to implement but deliver huge rewards (most of them you can do for free!).

Making Change Happen:
The key as I always say is how you implement things, If you don’t give your tasks a priority level, you will naturally be drawn to the smaller, easier tasks (it happens to the best of us).
Identifying the tasks that are most important based on the results they will deliver, will help you avoid procrastination.
My steps for success
There are a few ways to categorise your tasks. Here are a few of my favourites to choose from;
The Grid Method:
|
Grade the tasks:
First grade each task from A-E.
A - is something that you absolutely must do, (if you have lots of things that fall into this category number them A1, A2, A3 in order of importance with A1 being the most important of all,
B - Things you should do but it only has mild consequences,
C - Tasks that would be nice to do, but there is no consequence to not doing them.
D - Things that you can delegate to someone else,
E - Tasks that can be eliminated altogether.
Then work your way through the list in order
Use a Scoring system:
Give each task a score out of 5 for 3 areas - Potential Impact, Ease of Implementation, and Affordability
Add the 3 scores together for each task
Put the 5 highest scoring tasks on your master list - or turn them into a project list.
Whichever way works best for you, try it out and stick with it every day for at least 2 weeks. If you find it doesn’t work for you, try another method.
But you have to have a way to prioritise your lists otherwise you will fall into the trap of just doing the ‘nice-to-do’ things that don’t move your business in the right direction.
Although doing these will make you feel good as you’ve been busy, but no-one wants to be a busy fool!
